Weekly Blog #6 - Climate Change
Climate change has been a topic mentioned many times. There isn't a permanent solution to the issue. Even though there has been some changes to reduce the effects of climate change. Those changes can contribute to climate change. For instance, the production of electric vehicles can damage the environment. Electric vehicles require materials from underground, such as lithium, cobalt, and other metals. This can harm the nearby ecosystem and lead to other downsides from producing batteries for electric vehicles.
I used to believe that climate change was mostly contributed to by individual actions. For example, people driving, littering, and so on. I realized that industries, corporations, and other large-scale communities play a role that adds to climate change. It made me think about how people are normally blamed instead of companies. They mass-produce products, and there isn't a limit to how much they can produce. Recently, there has been a tax law that has been discussed that requires drivers in California to pay a certain amount for each mile they drive. I think it's unfair to tax people who need to drive to their destination. The public transportation in the United States isn't efficient, which is why most people prefer to drive instead of using public transportation. If the public transportation is more reliable, then more people are likely to use it.
